Job Title: Kitchen Assistant
Length/Type of Post: Permanent, Full Time.
Week one Tuesday- Sunday 8am-2pm
Week Two Tuesday - Friday 8am-2pm
Our client has a family owned care home set in 5 acres of beautiful countryside in the small hamlet of Tyringham.
It is registered for 35 residents with varying needs including provision for the frail and elderly as well as individuals who have dementia.
Their aim is to offer a safe, caring and stimulating environment whilst maintaining residents individuality and providing for their specific needs Their wishes and preferences .are paramount in the care and support we give to each one of them.
- General Duties
Support the cook with preparation of food, clearing up and maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen, store areas and dining room
Emptying the bins in the kitchen — do not overfill
Filling up coffee, tea and cupboard stock as required
Organising stock cupboards, fridges and freezers
Delivering breakfasts and lunches and clearing trays from the rooms (with support from care staff )
Washing up and storing the kitchen equipment, crockery & utensils (with support from the cook )
Assisting the cook in maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and dining room
Cleaning the dining room
Some preparation of food / vegetables as requested by cook on duty
Assisting in putting away deliveries
Ensure all food is covered and dated as per EHO requirements
Ensure the kitchen floor is swept & washed at the end of the shift
At all times food hygiene practices and environmental health requirements should be followed.
The demands made on the Kitchen Assistant can vary and the expectation is that the she will be supported by the cook and carers when there is added pressure.
A 10 minute break can be taken after the residents' coffee / tea has been served mid morning
