Job Title: Home Manager
Location: East the Water, Bideford EX39 4PP
Length/Type of Post: Permanent, Full Time.
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000
Hours 40 Hours, 9am-530pm
Job Overview.
Manage all aspects of the Home ensuring its efficient and effective operation, ensuring that Resident’s remain at the centre of the care provided and keeping in regular contact with Head Office.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Register with the Care Quality Commission to become the Registered Manager for the service you have been employed to manage.
- As necessary, liaise with the Care Quality Commission, Local authority and Fire Authority to ensure satisfactory standards are maintained at the Home and any required notifications to be submitted in a timely manner e.g. DOLs, safeguarding, RIDDOR, CQC notifications etc.
- Ensure maximum resident occupancy levels are maintained at all times
- Following any new referrals attend assessments of potential residents within 48 hrs to assess the suitability of new placements looking at joining the Service.
- Contribute to the development of the objectives for the Home and to ensure successful execution.
- Ensure policy, procedures, practices and work instructions are understood and implemented to ensure the highest standards of care is provided to all Service Users.
- Take responsibility and/or have oversight on the Home’s medication processes to ensure that safe medication processes are being implemented. • Completing audits to ensure the compliance and smooth running of the Service.
- To provide additional support to the service and work as part of the Home’s on-call rota where telephone support will be provided when required outside of your normal working hours. In certain circumstances, you may be expected to attend the service outside of your normal working hours to provide additional support/guidance.
- To liaise regularly with head office ensuring necessary information is communicated promptly and effectively.
- To confidently show potential residents and their families and friends around the Home, as required, and discussing the philosophy of care and the activities of daily living skills. Reviewed May 2020
- To have the ability to deal with the admission of residents to the Home. Ensure their comfort and allay any anxieties they may have. Ensure all appropriate resident details are taken and those pertinent to the better care of each resident.
- Promote effective communication and relationship building between all staff, residents and third parties.
- Ensure that all record keeping required by the Care Quality Commission and other governing bodies are consistent with legislation and maintained.
- Ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of residents and staff around the Service. If any concerns to report to Head Office without delay.
- To confidently liaise with all health and social care professionals associated with resident care.
- Oversee care tasks on a regular basis as required by the needs of the Residents and Home.
- Oversee and contribute to the care planning function and ensure that all care planning reflects current and best practice and that all staff are able to participate appropriately.
- Ensure that the Company Complaints Procedure is understood, publicised and applied in a way that allows residents to have their complaints dealt with in an open and honest way without fear of victimisation.
- To be competent in investigating any complaints or adult protection concerns raised by residents or relatives and report them as appropriate.
- To be competent in investigating all injuries sustained by residents while in the care of the Home. Report all serious injuries as appropriate.
- To provide professional and managerial support to all staff within the Home.
- Be approachable and supportive to all staff to keep all staff working to the highest of their ability.
- Be responsible for ensuring all administrative functions associated with management of the staff are completed correctly.
- To complete regular staff supervisions in line with company process
- To adequately manage the service and when staffing issues arise, conduct investigations/ disciplinaries and any other formal meetings such as welfare meetings where appropriate.
- To manage recruitment and selection of staff, ensuring that they are recruited in accordance with organisation’s policies and procedures and external legislations.
- Ensure that a healthy supply of bank staff is reviewed and maintained on a regular basis to help meet the staffing needs of the home and prevent any deficiencies on the rota. Reviewed May 2020
- Implement training and development plans to raise the skills and competencies of team members to ensure they have the ability to perform current and future roles.
- Ensure that all relevant staff are aware of the legal requirements in relation to the administration of medication.
- Ensure all staff complete the Company and Statutory requirements regarding induction training
- Ensure the staffing rota is planned and maintained so that it is appropriate to meet the needs of the residents and makes the best use of available staff. Where agency is required, ensure that the agency request has been submitted to Head Office within a timely manner for approval by a Senior Member of Staff or Director.
- Ensure that health and safety standards are maintained in accordance with the organisation’s policies and procedures by carrying out frequent walks arounds of the building to highlight any maintenance issues, inspect the cleanliness of the Home and upkeep the safety and security of the building
- Ensure all ongoing maintenance work is identified and communicated to Head Office and ensure works are carried out as planned.
- Review the need to update equipment, furniture and fittings, in priority order, and action within budget. • Ensure regular stock checks are completed to ensure there are enough food, medication and cleaning supplies.

Someone with prior experience of managing a similar service.
Ideally NVQ Level 5 and CQC Registered
